SHADE TREES

CHINESE PISTACHIO - A high quality shade tree with a fall color of yellow, orange, and red. Mature height 50-60'.
    


BURR OAK - Large leaves, large acorns. Makes a large and long life tree.
    


BALD CYPRESS - A shade tree which is adapted to a wide variety of soils, including poor drained soils.
   


LACEBARK ELM - Fast growing, drought tolerant; cannot tolerate wet soil adapted to high alkaline soils. Yellow fall color. Upright spread with delicate foliage. Height 40’ plus.
   

 


FLOWERING TREES AND SHRUBS

REDBUD - Makes a bush-like tree, large foliage, covered with red flowers in early spring before leaves appear.
   


TEXAS REDBUD - Adapted to alkaline soils. Attractive glossy leaves.
   


DESERT WILLOW - A drought tolerant tree. Easily grown in most soils with good drainage. Blossoms will vary from pink to lavender.
    


DALLAS RED CREPE MYRTLE - Large red, cold hardy variety, tree type and mildew resistant.
    


NATCHEZ CREPE MYRTLE - Vigorous growing white, cold hardy, tall tree type and mildew resistant.
    


BRADFORD FLOWERING PEAR - A U.S.D.A. release. Color in three seasons. A mass of white flowers in the spring - rich green foliage in the summer months - turns orange to orange-red in the fall and holds foliage until early winter. Will sometimes bear tiny fruit. (Not suitable for eating).
    


MEXICAN PLUM - An attractive ornamental plum. Does well in calcarious soils. A native to much of Texas. Abundance of white blossoms in spring. Small fruit matures in September. Grows to about 16 ft.
