Peaches

The following trees are grafted and budded to a nematode resistant root stock. We also offer Halford rootstock, which is better suited for High Ph soils (Austin, San Antonio, DFW), and any soil where white rock and caliche are prevalent.
     Peach varieties listed in approximate ripening order.
     Ripening dates are approximate for Central Texas Area.
     [*] After variety name, indicates a cold hardy variety.

(Chilling hours - The number of hours of temperature below 45 degrees F. required during dormant season for proper growth and production the following Season.)


EARLIGRANDE - From Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. Low chilling hours (275). Early ripening. Semi-cling flesh. This variety is particularly adapted to the South Texas area. Ripens early May in South Texas.




TROPIC SNOW - Creamy white flesh freestone. Ripens in May. Home use variety for deep South Texas. 200 hours.

FLORDAKING - A medium sized, firm fleshed, yellow variety for more southern plantings. Introduced by Florida Experiment Station at Gainesville. Ripens mid May. 450 Hours.

TEXKING - Large, firm yellow flesh freestone. Ripens between Flordaking and TexStar. 400 hrs. Texas A&M introduction.
   

JUNEGOLD NEW - An early ripening peach for areas with about 650 hours chilling Yellow flesh, clingstone. Ripens early June.

TEXPRINCE
- An attractive yellow flesh freestone which ripens after Junegold. It has been a consistent producer in the 500-550 chill hour zone.
   

TEXSTAR - A release from Texas A & M University. Sets heavy crops. Yellow flesh. 450 Hours. Semi-cling. Ripens early June.
    

TEXROYAL - A release from Texas Ag. Experiment Station. Yellow fleshed, red freestone. Ripens just after Junegold. 600 Hours.

JUNEPRINCE - Semi-freestone, with yellow flesh. Ripens 35 - 38 days before Elberta. 650 hours.
    

LA FELICIANA NEW - A yellow flesh, freestone peach from Louisiana which is adapted to the warmer areas. 550 hours. Ripens in June.

RIO GRANDE
- Large freestone yellow flesh. Ripens about June 15th in San Antonio area. 450 chilling hours. Excellent peach for warmer areas of Texas.
    

SPRINGOLD NEW - U.S.D.A. release. Clingstone. 750 Hours. Flesh is yellow, firm and well flavored for an early peach. At maturity the fruit is 80% covered with a bright, red blush over a yellow ground color. Ripens May 10th-20th
    

HARVESTER
- A firm, highly colored, freestone fruit, becoming very popular with commercial growers. Ripens mid June. 750 Hours.

RANGER* - Ranger trees are extra vigorous, and have an abundance of dark green foliage. The fruit is a large, red-yellow fleshed, freestone peach and is usually free of skin blemishes. Flesh is firm and will remain so for days after harvesting. Ripens June 15-20th. 900 Hours.

REDGLOBE - Follows Ranger, one of the best. Freestone, large red, with yellow flesh. The large size, dark red colors, and round shape makes this variety eye-appealing. 850 Hours. Ripens about July 4th.

REDHAVEN* - Widely planted freestone peach. Firm flesh. Ripens 1st July. 950 Hours.
    

BOUNTY - Large, round yellow flesh. A very attractive fruit. Freestone. 800 hours. Ripens July 4th.

LORING  A large firm freestone with an eye-appealing yellowish-red color. Requires a short rest period and blooms early. Disease resistant. 750 Hours. Ripens July 10th.

FIREPRINCE NEW - Yellow freestone flesh. Ripens 20 days before Elberta. Requires 850 Chill Hours.
   

DENMAN
- A variety from Texas A & M University. The Denman resulted from an open pollinated seedling of Redglobe. Large, yellow freestone. Ripens just after the Loring variety. Blooms later and over a longer period of time than most varieties. 850 Hours. Ripens July 10th.
    

REDSKIN - A large, well colored freestone with yellow flesh. Ripens just before Elberta. 750 Hours. Ripens July 20-25th.

RED BARON - A flowering peach with an extremely large and dark red double bloom. Produces a good freestone fruit which ripens near Redskin period.
    

DIXIELAND - A popular peach which ripens just ahead of Elberta. Freestone, good color. 750 Hours. Ripens about July 25th.
  

BELLE OF GEORGIA - White flesh, freestone, very sweet, low acid. 850 Hours. Ripens about July 20 - August 1.
  

INDIAN CLING - The strain we have ripens with the Elberta. White cling stone flesh with red next to the seed. Nice size, seldom fails to bear. Fine for pickles and preserves. 750 Hours. Ripens July 20 - August 1.
  

ELBERTA - We have a good strain of this old peach. It is still a favorite with many. Well colored, red and yellow. Ripens from the 20th to the last of July. Freestone. 850 Hours.

MONROE* - Reported by many to have the best flavor of all peach varieties. Ripens in this area about August 15th. Large size, yellow flesh, freestone. 850 Hours.
  

FLAMEPRINCE NEW - Yellow-orange firm flesh freestone. Ripens after Elberta. Requires 850 Chill Hours.
   
 


 


HALFORD ROOTSTOCK
(More adapt to high alkaline soils)

We are offering the following peach varieties on Halford Rootstock.

 

JUNE GOLD - An early ripening peach for areas with about 650 hours chilling. Yellow flesh, clingstone. Ripens early June.

PEACH ROOTSTOCK

NEMAGUARD - Peach rootstock for most of Texas. Resistant to rootknot nematodes. Fruit not suitable for eating.
