The 2011 nursery season marks another milestone for the Womack family. It was seventy-five years ago that James H. Womack started the nursery here on the home place. The last seventy - five years have taught us many lessons in practical horticulture. This gorwing season has proven to be no exception, as Mother Nature has dealt us one challenge after another with extreme heat, wind, insects, and severe drought. It has been a trying season, but as I learned years ago, there are some things you just can't control and we just have to take things one day at a time.

Between dad and myself, we have a combined experience of over 85 years of growing fruit and pecan trees, as well as experience in fruit and nut sales. It is this experience that has helped us through this demanding summer and enabled us to produce quality trees for our customers.

Looking back at my grandad selling trees in 1937 on the Comaanche and Eastland county squares, I am amazed how far we have come in 75 years. While continuing to supply fruit and pecan trees to the local area, we have expanded to 1,000 acres and ship trees all over the United States as well as abroad.

Our success is primarily due to our loyal and valued customers that in many cases seem more like an extended family. Words cannot express our sincere appreciation to all of our past and present customers. Whether it has been a commercial orchard, or a backyard garden, we feel blessed to have played a part in seeing a dream come true. It is because of you that we will continue to strive to deliver quality fruit and pecan trees for years to come.

Sincerely
